Channel farmers, angry at the EU-Mercosur treaty, take action

The JA (Young Farmers) and the FDSEA of La Manche will make their demands heard on Monday, November 18, 2024, in the face of concerns about a trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.

Like their colleagues throughout France, farmers in La Manche will demonstrate this week. The reason for their anger: the resumption of negotiations for a trade agreement between the European Union and the South American Mercosur countries.

An “inconceivable” agreement

“It is inconceivable that sustainable European agriculture will be replaced by that of other continents whose practices, banned in Europe, are environmentally and socially less valuable,” are outraged by the agricultural unions of the FNSEA and JA (Young Farmers).

The departmental representatives of these unions are alerting and planning action in the Channel from this Monday, November 18, 2024.
