Despite around a hundred participants, the first edition of the Rambouillet Territoires intervillage games, which took place this weekend, did not meet with the expected success.

From 8 a.m. on Saturday, at the Vieux-Moulin stadium in Rambouillet, around 120 people gathered to participate in twelve activities, both sporting and fun (three-a-side basketball, foot-golf, ball tennis, sitting volleyball and other events more classics such as darts or even relay), organized for this first edition of the Rambouillet Territoires intervillage games, ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Trials canceled and a shortened event

Four villages in Rambouillet Territoires mobilized for this great Olympics: Prunay-en-Yvelines, Auffargis, Ablis and Vieille-Église – Le Perray-en-Yvelines.

Prunay-en-Yvelines and Auffargis, in fact, presented no less than three teams of around ten people, mobilized by town halls or local associations, all supervised by around thirty volunteers.

A few other municipalities were represented, but they had to be brought together to form a complete team. Although the public did not turn out in numbers, that did not prevent the participants from showing great enthusiasm during the events, particularly during the tug of war, where they had to gather all their strength.

Future editions planned?

For this first attempt, despite the rather mild weather, participation did not live up to expectations. Originally, the festivities were supposed to last two days. Some events had to be canceled and the teams were reduced.

Despite everything, Damien Pont and Thomas Désert, residents of Perray-en-Yvelines in charge of organizing the event, remain confident for future editions, which also remain the initiative of Rambouillet Territoires.
