The populations of Korkadié, “displaced” following the floods recently caused by the flooding of the Senegal River, were able to vote thanks to the special arrangements made by the administration, assured the prefect of Podor, Mactar Diop.
“We have indeed taken the necessary measures to allow all citizens who wish to do so to vote,” he declared.
He said that firefighters, using zodiacs and life jackets, provide the shuttle to allow voters to cross. Vehicles previously responsible for driving them from their resettlement sites to the banks of the river.
The prefect indicates that these are families from the village of Korkadié, located on the banks of the Senegal River, in the commune of Guédé Village (district of Gamadji Saré).
Several families from this locality had been transferred not far from the RN2, near Guédé Chantier, around twenty kilometers away.
The same system is put in place by the prefect to allow electoral staff and CEDA observers to go to Diama Alwaly, located between Gayo and Doué.
