A trip to the land of Djinn Fairywhat do you think? Just take seats for the new cinema concert planned in the largest cinema in the world, located at the Grand Rex. After The Choirs et Back to the Futureit is in the universe ofAzur and Asmar that this institution of the seventh art immerses us in.
Far from a simple screening, the film will be revealed in a new concert filmcarried by the grandiose music of the composer Gabriel Yaredpresent for the occasion, accompanied by Souad Messiwho will sing the Chanson d'Azur et Asmar a live.
Brotherhood and magic
Author of the unforgettable trilogy Kirikou, Michel Ocelot signs with Azur and Asmar (2006) a new animation masterpiece that has marked an entire generation. Inspired by Tales from the Arabian Nights, Azur and Asmar addresses social issues such as social inequalities and the discovery of foreign cultures through the history of two foster brothers – Azur the blond with blue eyes and Asmar the brunette with black eyes – raised by the same woman in a green and flowery country. Brutally separated by life after childhood, they will both be driven by the desire to find the Djinn Fairy and will embark on an epic journey rich in lessons that will bring them together.
Synchronized music and images
Thus, under the direction of Nicolas Simonthe Yellow Socks Orchestra will perform live the moriginal music by Gabriel Yared – specially rearranged by Robin Melchior for this format – in parfaite synchronisation with the projection of the film on the big screen. They will be accompanied on stage by the soloists Mohamed Najem on the Ney flute and Yousef Zayed at the Oud.
An Azur et Asmar film concert is already planned at the Auditorium de La Seine Musicale in December, and will have a French tour in spring 2025: popular enthusiasm for this type of event is not waning. Other meetings of this kind will take place on both sides of the capital next year: from January 17 to 19, 2025, the Palais des Congrès de Paris will host Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. On September 27, 2025, Avatar will also be entitled to his film concert at the Zénith. After a first time at the Grand Rex in November 2023, La La Land will be back in concert on October 3 and 4, 2025.
