The Meuse city is transformed into a real Santa Claus village, offering the Haut-Marnais a magical getaway just a stone's throw from home. Between craft market, ice rink and shows, Verdun promises unforgettable parties.
From December 1 to January 7, the Meuse city offers a festive program which will delight young and old, inviting the inhabitants of neighboring Haute-Marne to an enchanted getaway.
A transformed city center
As soon as night falls, Verdun puts on its clothes of light. The streets of the historic center are adorned with garlands and magical illuminations, creating a warm atmosphere conducive to strolling. The highlight of these decorations is undoubtedly the majestic 12 meter fir tree enthroned on the Place de la Nation, a true symbol of the Verdun festivities.
A Christmas market with a thousand flavors
The beating heart of the festivities is Place Saint-Paul, where a village of wooden chalets welcomes local artisans and producers. Visitors will be able to find original giftshandcrafted decorations and of course, feast on regional specialties. Mulled wine, gingerbread and other delicacies will warm the taste buds of walkers.
Entertainment for all ages
The children are not left out with theinstallation of a 200 m² synthetic ice rink on Place Chevert. Accessible for free, it promises moments of sliding and laughter with the family. For the youngest, an enchanted carousel and carriage rides with Santa Claus are also on the program.
Art and culture at the rendezvous
Verdun also relies on culture to enrich its festivities. Street performances, choir concerts and ephemeral art exhibitions will punctuate the month of December. The highlight will be the sound and light show projected on Notre-Dame Cathedral, retracing the history of the city and celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
The Haut-Marnais are therefore invited to cross departmental borders to discover the magic of Christmas, Meuse version.
