During the municipal council which was held this Monday afternoon at the Town Hall, the elected officials of the “Saint-Étienne Avant Tout” group renounced their functions as deputy or delegated municipal councilor.

It was a real coup de theater which took place today at the Saint-Etienne Town Hall. After a vote by the municipal council deciding to withdraw its delegations to deputy Claude Liogier, the elected representatives of the “Saint-Étienne Avant Tout” group have given up their duties as deputy or delegated municipal councilor. “Our entire group has decided not to continue the adventure alongside you and is renouncing to exercise the delegations entrusted to it”, explains Nicole Peycelon, now ex-city deputy. Gaël Perdriau, mayor of Saint-Etienne, replied: “Claude Liogier was therefore not the only one to have ideas in his head”. The various opposition parties decided to leave the municipal council room around 4:15 p.m..

“I carried out my duties with dedication and self-sacrifice”

After taking into account the council’s vote, Claude Liogier wanted to speak: I have been elected deputy for 10 years. I have carried out my duties with dedication and self-sacrifice, with deep loyalty to our majority.”, he explains, moved. In response, the mayor explains his decision: “I became aware of certain actions or inactions sometimes which worked against the municipal majority. Letters received show that the residents of Stéphane complain of not having heard from the traffic deputy.

Note that Jacques Plaine, founder of the Saint-Étienne Book Festival, becomes municipal councilor, replacing Denis Chambe, former deputy who recently died.
