The travel monitor: a new machine in Calais!
This Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Natacha Bouchart, mayor of Calais, and François Delarozière, artistic director of the company La Machine, launched the second phase of Machines de Calais. The opportunity to welcome a new reptile to the Côte d’Opale: the travel Monitor !
“This new creation, imagined by François Delarozière, is a continuation of the exceptional success of the Dragon de Calais, which has captured the hearts of Calais residents and visitors. Thanks to him, Calais has strengthened its attractiveness and cultural influence. »
The travel monitor was designed “for Calais residents and for the entire city”. It will come to life in November 2025 through a “grandiose spectacle” scheduled for November 7, 8 and 9. “This event promises three days of celebration and dreams for young and old,” underlines the city councilor.
In order to prepare for the arrival of the Varan, several stages are on the program until this summer: workshops, visit to the heart of the world of Machines in Nantes, exhibition and even artistic performances.
