A mother and her two sons aged 8 and 10 were killed in a collision on the A26 motorway in Pas-de-Calais. The circumstances of the accident are not clearly established.
Terrible accident Saturday afternoon. A 42-year-old woman who was traveling on the A26 motorway with her two sons aged 8 and 10 collided with another vehicle. The toll was very heavy: the mother and her two sons died instantly. The family cat that was in the passenger compartment did not survive.
In the second vehicle, the 52-year-old driver was seriously injured. He is a 52-year-old man from Malta. Medically treated on site, he was transported to the Lille CHR by the firefighters.
The circumstances of the accident are not yet clearly established. The accident occurred around 2 p.m. in Pas-de-Calais between the Trois Crêtes area and the A26/A1 interchange. The A26 motorway connects Calais (Pas-de-Calais) to Reims (Marne).
Psychological support for emergency services
Around twenty firefighters were mobilized for this intervention, as well as the gendarmerie, two SMUR teams and staff from the Sanef motorway company. Psychological support was put in place for the teams who intervened on site, indicates The Future of Artois.
Traffic was completely cut off near the accident until the end of the day in the Calais/Reims direction.
