A new yellow vigilance was triggered in Guadeloupe this Saturday, November 16, at midday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. The meteorological phenomenon responsible for this bad weather
Due to the weakness of the wind, stationary showers, sometimes sustained and stormy, will occur this afternoon, particularly in North Basse-Terre between Deshaies and Sainte-Rose, Météo France indicates in a press release.
Rainfall accumulations of 50 to 80 mm in 3 hours are possible. Caution is therefore required.
The recorded data shows 26.3 mm of water fell in Sofaïa, in Sainte-Rose in 1 hour.
The weather should improve early in the evening, according to the forecast.
In Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, the yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms was triggered around 8 a.m. this Saturday. An event which should last until tomorrow (Sunday November 17) at the end of the day.
According to Météo France, the unstable situation is linked to the passage of an undulating front over the north of the West Indies.
Threatening convective cloud clusters sometimes bring moderate to heavy and stormy showers.
These agitated moments will alternate with calm and sunny periods.
Significant rainfall accumulations are expected in places of around 30 to 40 mm in 3 hours or even less time.
