Coupe de France: the not very classy gesture of SM Caen against US Bolbec – Coupe de France – 8th round – Bolbec-Caen

Currently 8^e from its Regional 1 group, l’US Bolbec will have the honor of challenging the professionals of Stade Malherbe de Caen this Saturday (1:30 p.m.)in the eighth round of the Coupe de France. For this occasion, the Bolbécais leaders set out in search of a stadium capable of hosting the meetingand proposed to their Caen counterparts to reverse the match host and to play at the Michel d'Ornano stadium. However, this will not be the case, SM Caen will send them a quote of 84,000 euros according to Paris-Normandie, a colossal sum for the small amateur club.

Pavilly as a fallback solution

Unable to pay such a sum and despite the dream of amateur players to play in the 20,000-seat enclosure of the current 14^e of Ligue 2, US Bolbec therefore had to find a fallback solution, and will therefore organize the meeting in the town of Pavillyin Seine-Maritime, within the Lucien-Lecuyer stadium and its 200 seats. A regrettable affair according to Bolbéc president Kevin Beaufils: “Football is normally about solidarity. In the previous round, we left our share of the revenue to La Maladrerie de Caen, knowing that our qualification would allow us to benefit from a bonus from the Federation.
