A delegation of European architects and urban planners set down his bags at the beginning of June in the prefecture city ofEssonne. Their objective ? Discover the transitional urban planning developments developed by the City ofEvry-Courcouronnes and the urban community Greater Paris South as part of the renewal of the city center.

Transitional urban planning

In fact, these arrangements have been included in the catalog of best practices of the Living Spaces program, which is supported by Eurocitiesthe network of European cities and the Council of Architects of Europe.

As a reminder, alongside structural rearrangement – which consists of breaking with urban planning of slabs to open up the city center and reveal its assets – tactical or transitional urban planning aims to reinvent public spaces by testing new uses.

The projects are informed by opinions and exchanges with users and residents, collected during consultations. This can lead to adjustments if necessary, to developments on a territorial scale, or to the abandonment of projects.

Achievements identified in Évry-Courcouronnes

Around ten achievements were identified Évry-Courcouronnes. Some have already been completed, while others are in progress. Planted canopies at the RER station exit, shaded urban furniture in front of the university, colorful markings on the ground inviting you to discover an urban park located near the city center… The aim is to offer a new experience of the city.

Local urban culture is also highlighted through the development of a area ofart of movement. This discipline, born in the territory, gained popularity with the screening of the film Compulsory.
