On November 16 and 17, at the Cœur de ville space, works by volunteers from the Calvès workshop will be exhibited as part of the association's 30th anniversary.
It has already been 30 years since the Georges and Marie Calvès workshop continued its activities, as explained by the president of the association, Sophie Cornu. “In the 90s, some volunteers from the Bragarde Association of Plastic Arts wanted to become independent by creating a club called the Georges and Marie Calvès workshop”. A workshop referring to two Haut-Marne painters, Georges, the father, and Marie, his daughter. According to the Wikipedia site, the Parisian painter Georges Calvès loves the countryside. His wife being of Haut-Marnes origin, it is surely for this reason that he decided to settle his family in Soncourt-sur-Marne, a town where he bought the Montants estate in which Marie would grow up and live.

The young girl was introduced to painting by her father, an art in which she quickly showed talent. She quickly made a name for herself. After the death of her father in 1924, she continued to reside and maintain the Montants estate where she died in 1957.
