A few makeshift barracks and several tents pitched above high-voltage power lines. It is in illicit conditions that several people had settled on a wasteland of Linandes districtin (Val-d'Oise), close to the road education track, “in very precarious safety and health conditions”, underlines the Val-d'Oise prefecture following theevacuation of this campFriday November 15, 2024.

Court decision

An operation carried out by national and municipal police officers under the authority of the prefect of Val-d'Oise and in application of a court decision and a municipal decree, following a social intervention to “identify the needs shelter and offer care solutions, particularly for the most vulnerable people,” indicates the prefecture.

Last April, an identical operation had already been carried out on the Plaine des Linandes after the installation of several families in the parking lot located opposite the Mirapolis site. “We are very active in the evacuation of illegal camps, whether of Travelers or Roma,” indicated a few weeks earlier the prefect of Val-d'Oise, Philippe Court.

Thus, while in 2023, 252 evacuation decisions were taken, as of October 17 the prefecture had 206. Actions carried out “always within the framework of the law and respect for the person”, underlines the prefect of the Val-d’Oise.
