According to Martine Nivelais, a Mazerian who has been caring for stray cats for several years, 20 cats disappeared in a single night, at the end of September, without ever reappearing. A complaint was filed with the police.

It's a real mystery: 20 out of 30 cats disappear in one night, it's enough to ask questions, especially since if these cats did not have a dedicated owner, they were fed and cared for.

Mazerian Martine Nivelais, who takes care of stray cats in the town, is not ready to give up and wants at all costs to know what happened to these cats and find the culprits. Especially since she took care of the cats who have disappeared since the previous owner had to leave the premises to be placed in a retirement home – “an agreement with the owner’s son, says Martine, I I even had about twenty sterilized.

A mysterious mass disappearance

A mysterious mass disappearance… According to the Mazérien, everything happened in the night, on September 28, in the neighborhood of the Faubourg du Cardinal d'Esté where these cats had their habits. It was while coming to feed them that Martine noticed that twenty were missing. “You should know that some neighborhood cats have also disappeared,” adds Martine, cats this time belonging to individuals, as evidenced by several appeals launched recently on social networks. A complaint was filed with the gendarmerie, but the mystery is still not solved.

Well known in Mazères, Martine Nivelais has been taking care of stray cats for more than 12 years and devotes a large part of her salary and time to feeding them. “The stray cats from the Faubourg du Cardinal d’Esté, as well as those from the cat house,” she explains.

“I am not an association, but “box or kibble” aid would improve the daily lives of the cats in my care. Food aid as well as the capture and sterilization of two cats, financed by the town hall, would be also welcome,” concludes Martine.

La Mazérien thanks the animal protection associations as well as the volunteers who mobilize to help and who do their best when they can. If you want to donate kibble, you can contact Martine: tel. 06 44 94 57 84.
