An altercation that occurred on a bus in Limay () mobilized the police services this Thursday, November 14, 2024. And for good reason, the first testimonies collected suggested a rather serious matter.

College students said that a woman armed with a knife attacked them in the means of transport. There were no injuries. However, the National Education services, then the prosecution and the police, took the story very seriously. At least one parent of a student had also filed a complaint.

The investigation carried out quickly by the Mantes-la-Jolie police station, however, resulted in a classification without continuation of the procedure because, according to our sources, it is likely to be a “rumor” spread by young people who have undoubtedly gotten a little carried away. However, the incident raises a problem of incivility on the line concerned which the carrier will now work to resolve.

“If you don’t come out, I’ll crash you”

It all started around 8 a.m., in the L buswhich connects Hauts de Limay to the Condorcet high school. A woman gets on board, accompanied by her baby. An argument breaks out between this thirty-year-old and a group of college students attending Albert-Thierry. She blames them for the ambient ruckus.

According to the version collected in the complaint of the parents of a student who witnessed the scene, this woman allegedly “pulled out a knife”: “She held it alongside her body and went from one end of the bus to the other, threatening the young people. She attacked them because they were blocking the doors and preventing her from leaving,” says the mother of the family, contacted by 78actu.

With great detail, she reports to the word the words what this woman would have said before getting off the bus at the Ampère stop: “If anyone approaches me, I'll punch him in the face”, “if you don't get out, I'll crash you”.

College students delivered this story to school staff upon their arrival at the establishment. Obviously, the matter was quickly escalated to the rectorate, then to the courts. It also caused a wave of panic among families, as several sources told us.

The suspect's version

Easily identified, the suspect was taken into custody during the day. During his auditionsshe detailed a version very different from that of adolescents.

To investigatorsshe says she got on the bus to “call out” college students who blocked the bus doors in front of the Albert-Thierry college every morning and therefore made her late to go to work. Although she readily admits that the tone was not courteous, she formally denies having been in possession of a knife.

THE witness hearings in the afternoon finally proved him right. One of them, who initially claimed to have seen the weapon, even retracted his initial statements, explaining that he had “trusted the rumor”…

Mediators will be deployed on the bus to restore calm

At the end of police custody, the suspect was release and the case was closed for lack of tangible evidence. There was probably no physical attack, however, surprisingly, the incident would have had a real psychological impact on certain students present on the bus. The college will set up monitoring for them.

As a result of this story, the transporter, RD Mantois, became aware that some middle school students have fun blocking the bus doors in the morning and that this generates tensions with other users. Therefore, he should very quickly deploy mediators on this line in order to calm things down.
