This Thursday, the Tours police court studied the case of a family accused of animal abuse by the SPA, report our colleagues from France Bleu. Indeed, several animals in a deplorable state were found at their home in Marcé-sur-Esves (Indre-et-Loire). The 72-year-old mother cites financial concerns to justify herself.
The initial alert was raised by walkers who discovered a donkey in bad shape in the family's field. The animal's movements were made very complicated because of its poorly maintained hooves. The woman and her two children therefore received a visit from an SPA inspector following this report.
They lose custody of their animals
The latter then discovers the extent of the abuse. Besides the donkey, the family has other animals, all in worrying condition. Their doves, dogs, cats and even their pig show signs of malnutrition. The animals' living spaces, permeated by a pungent smell of urine, are left completely abandoned, without water or food.
On the stand, the septuagenarian denies mistreatment. She pleads negligence due to lack of money. One of his sons, not very talkative, mentions family problems in an attempt to clear his way. They are ordered to pay between 150 and 300 euros in fines and will have to pay 1,800 euros to the SPA. All their animals were entrusted to the animal protection association.
