According to our colleagues from 3, in the department of Meurthe-et-, cemeteries are currently the scene of burglaries. The graves have, in fact, been vandalized for several days throughout the territory.

The police thus deplore in each cemetery, a little more than twenty desecrated graves. Each time, lettering as well as parts made of brass are stolen. In the Nomeny, Château-Salins and Champenoux sectors, specific objects disappear, whether marble plaques or other funerary objects containing brass.

Reinforced surveillance

The gendarmerie services do not understand why brass is of such interest to thieves, this material not being considered precious. The police, however, noted that the most distant cemeteries were specifically targeted.

Because of these acts of delinquency, the emotion is great for the affected families, because it is objects dedicated to the deceased which disappear. In order to identify the perpetrators of these thefts, the mayors of the municipalities are participating in the investigation: this is how all the owners of the concessions were able to be found and alerted.
