In five participations, the IMT Mines Alès establishment is in the Top 300 worldwide for the fifth time in the “Impact Prize” 2024. More than 2,000 establishments participated.

The IMT Mines Alès engineering school participated for the fifth time in Times Higher Education (THE) Impact. It is part of the Top 300 in the world and is ranked 8th among French establishments. A result which rewards its actions in the ecological transition and social responsibility. “This year again, our establishment’s commitments are reflected in a ranking at the highest level. We must continue our efforts to better train the actors of tomorrow,” says Ingrid Bazin, researcher at IMT Mines.

The aim of the establishment is to protect the planet and guarantee prosperity for all by ensuring a transition towards sustainable development. The school follows the UN sustainable development imperatives adopted in 2015 called “Agenda 2030”. This program contains 17 objectives which have developed a roadmap in favor of ecological transition and social responsibility throughout the world.

Well-defined objectives

The international THE Impact ranking evaluates higher education institutions according to different objectives. The commitment must be concrete according to different criteria such as the content of teaching, research and innovation projects serving society, environmental management of campuses or social policy. The IMT Mines Alès school ticks all the boxes. Out of more than 2000 establishments in the running, the engineering school is even in the top 150 in the world and the top 10 in France according to certain sustainable development objectives.

The environmental transition is the No. 1 challenge of the school’s 2023-2027 strategic plan, which translates into concrete Eco-campus actions, the reduction of greenhouse gases and water consumption, soft mobility and preservation of biodiversity. “We must root the environmental transition at the heart of our actions. Together, we are working to meet this strategic challenge which we will achieve thanks to an ambitious action plan and investments”concludes Assia Tria, the director.
