It is a heavyweight in the professional press which has just closed its doors. The Téma family press group, based in Metz (Moselle), will disappear. The Metz judicial court pronounced, this Wednesday, November 13, 2024, during a closed hearing the liquidation of several companies in the group, leading to the elimination of at least 80 jobs.
“I have a hard time seeing these companies liquidated, and seeing employees who have done well unfortunately find themselves left behind.“, reacted to AFP François Grandidier, founder of these companies and manager of the group. He believes that the liquidated companies employed together “80 permanent“. A staff delegate spoke to AFP “around a hundred layoffs“to come including freelancers.”We took too long to deploy our project of “complete change of media” and creation of “transversal digital portals“, lamented François Grandidier. “And in digital, when things take too long to deploy, they become obsolete before being operational.“.
In difficulty with its digital strategy, this specialized press group claimed “40 leading media brands“on the themes of transport, agriculture or social issues. It is losing its subsidiaries”Media and garden“, “Media and agriculture“, “Media and active nature“and history”Agri terroir communication“, editors of different magazines (“Vegetable cultivation“, “Garden centers“, “Cultivar“…), as well as the Pixel6TM agency, producer of editorial content. All its subsidiaries were based in Metz.
Only the subsidiary X-Média, a digital services company, was taken over by a former internal technical director.
The Metz judicial court will also deliver its deliberations next Wednesday on the future of the ASH Publications companies (publisher of the ASH social work website and magazine, and the Néret guide, a specialized directory on disability). The fate of Supply Chain Magazine (SCM, publisher of the magazine of the same name, France Routes and L'Officiel des Transporteurs), whose editorial offices are located in the Paris region, will also be determined. Takeover offers were submitted by Eureka Presse (for the two titles), by Impact Social Media (for ASH) and by the Dutch Promédia (for SCM).
The court will also rule on Wednesday on the future of Média et Artisanat, a company based in Metz which was also the subject of a takeover offer.
