Valence Romans Drôme Rugby (Pro D2) and the prefecture of the Drôme continue their commitment to road safety. The VRDR and state services in Drôme joined forces in the spring for a general public campaign in favor of road safety, with the broadcast of three videos.
The players were committed and lent their local popularity to raise awareness among the general public by transposing the values on the pitch to good behavior to adopt on the road.
A sadly unfavorable outcome
The results of road safety on the roads of the department has deteriorated significantly this year. The number of deaths on the roads increased by 44% compared to the same period the previous year, reaching to date 267 accidents, 36 people killed et 335 people injured.
To date, 18 deaths have occurred in a nighttime accident, including 13 linked to alcohol, speed and drugs (i.e. 72%). For its part, Valence Romans Drôme Rugby feels strongly concerned by this social subject, which can affect everyone personally.
The prefect of Drôme, Thierry Devimeux, makes road safety in Drôme a priority and has asked the deployment of additional resources to law enforcement to stop this massacre.
Places and prizes to be won
On the occasion of the next home match of VRDR against Oyonnax on behalf of the Day 11 of Pro D2 (the second professional division), which will kick off at 7:30 p.m. this Friday November 15 at the Georges-Pompidou stadium, the two partners are renewing a joint mobilization.
An awareness-raising action will be carried out by the prefecture’s road safety office.
The different workshops will target the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Breathalyzers will be distributed to participants to encourage responsible drinking and provide a practical tool for self-assessment before getting behind the wheel.
A quiz on social networks will allow you to win places and prizes to be won all evening.
Rugby, an intergenerational sport
This evening aims to raise awareness of the influence of products through the game, to call for responsibility through animation, so that sport remains a celebration.
This strategic partnership makes it possible to reach all road users locally. Rugby is an intergenerational sport and the VRDR, a club supported by the economic sector of the basin, is supported by a strong local community.
The club thus affirms its commitment, its local influence and displays the confidence that the State has in it.
