Twice in two days. Thursday November 14, 2024, a refrigerated truck had an accident on the A28 north of Alençon, near the town of Neuville-près-Sées (Orne). Emergency services were called at 9:17 a.m. The heavy goods vehicle fell across the two lanes of the highway, in the north-south direction, from Rouen towards Le Mans.

Traffic cut off at exit 16
Traffic is blocked for 2 km. Alis, the highway operator confirms: “a diversion is installed at the Gacé interchange (exit 16)”. Traffic jams were created. “The time when traffic will resume is not currently known.” Five fire engines are present on site, as well as the Sées departmental road safety squadron and highway patrol officers. The truck, which was transporting empty plastic containers, was damaged at the rear.
The truck driver, “lightly injured” according to the departmental fire and rescue service, was taken out of his cabin by firefighters before being transported to Argentan hospital.
The day before, Wednesday, two heavy goods vehicles collided, causing the closure of a 20 km section of motorway between Alençon and Sées for around ten hours.
