Not very enthusiastic about Paprec's offer, Sitom Sud will soon relaunch the call for tenders for the management of its Valréna sorting center.

Could do better… At the end of September, Sitom Sud Gard chose to relaunch the call for tenders for the management of the sorting center: “ We were not really satisfied with the offer proposed by Paprec which was the only company to apply », Reveals Richard Tibérino, president of Sitom Sud Gard. This union is responsible for the treatment and recovery of waste. It brings together 84 municipalities, or more than 300,000 inhabitants.

Manager of the sorting center, the Paprec group has operated the Bastide site since 2015, the date of its creation. A site on which 25 people work daily. Each year, 20,000 tonnes of waste are sorted and transformed into packaging for everyday products. A virtuous activity which brings in money for the managing company, but also for the municipalities through Sitom Sud Gard. In 2023, sorting will bring in €6.67 per inhabitant.

This market relaunch – the date has not yet been set – “ will, it is hoped, attract new businesses. The first time, there were several concurrent calls for tenders in the region, including », Continues President Richard Tibérino. Elected officials must define a new market with a reduction in tonnage capacity: “ This resizing is due to the need to renew the sort chains. The consideration would be to resize for a need of around 30,000 tonnes. »

However, the practice of sorting is experiencing positive developments according to Nîmes Métropole, notably with the reform of collection. Finally, for those interested, the sorting center will open its doors on November 23, on the occasion of European Waste Reduction Week, from November 16 to 24.
