High tension reigned this Wednesday evening in the Saint-Bruno district of Grenoble, a few hours after the shots fired by unknown persons in the afternoon. Trash cans were thrown across rue Edgard-Quinet, a road linking Cours Berriat and Place Saint-Bruno, and elements of the Anti-Crime Brigade were carrying out checks near the tram stop, on the Cours Berriat around 8:45 p.m., as noted by Le Dauphiné Libéré.
Around 3:45 p.m., around twenty masked men dressed in black were attacked near the same rue Edgard-Quinet and rue de la Nursery, two streets around which drug trafficking is based. Their attackers, apparently arriving via Cours Berriat, fired into the air twice before fleeing. This scene of violence caused panic in the neighborhood but did not cause any injuries.
In the hours that followed, the police, who arrested two people, including a 15-year-old boy in possession of a machete, maintained a presence in the neighborhood. But at the start of the evening, the tension rose a notch, with young people throwing trash cans across rue Edgard-Quinet, probably to prevent a new attack from their enemies. The lucrative Saint-Bruno deal point is in fact hotly contested at regular intervals, with outside teams seeking to take control of the traffic. The shooting that occurred on Wednesday afternoon is undoubtedly another episode in the gang war that has been raging for many months in the Grenoble metropolitan area.
