Maine-et-Loire. The conference of a controversial doctor also sparks controversy in Choletais

Anesthetist-resuscitator, Louis Fouché attracted the wrath of medical authorities during the Covid crisis for his public positions against the widespread wearing of masks and messenger RNA vaccines. In November 2023, the doctor was banned from practicing for three months for these reasons, a decision which he contested on appeal. It was he who also founded Réinfo Covid, a site criticized for its proximity to conspiracy circles and for relaying false information on the health crisis.

It is this controversial character that the Santé Mauges collective, a movement opposed to compulsory vaccination during Covid, invited to Choletais. The doctor is due to give a conference at the La Tessoualle village hall, Friday November 15 (8 p.m.), on the theme “Playing solo or building together”. Working collectively is a challenge in our individualistic world. Dr Fouché testifies to the experience of the collectives he helped to lead and to the necessary but uncomfortable articulation between I and We explains the Santé Mauges collective (1). The next day, Saturday November 16, this same Dr Fouché must lead two workshops entitled “From fear to peace” for understand how to reconcile our fears to dare to live in peace . They will take place at the Childhood Center in the Favreau district of .

Initially, these events were to take place at the Providence high school in Cholet but the establishment canceled. People who had rented the amphitheater will not be welcomed for a simple reason: we have a problem securing the amphitheater explains Thierry Maingret, director of the Providence high school, without dwelling on the sulphurous speaker.

“Sectarian excesses”

The Santé Mauges collective therefore fell back on the La Tessoualle village hall where the mayor was surprised to discover the nature of the event. “ I'm not awareindicates Dominique Landreau. A lady has reserved the party room but I don't know for what exactly. I'm not anti-vax, I'm going to see what exactly it's about. As for the workshops, they will also take place in a municipal hall but in Cholet. It was a member of the Planty social center who rented the room. We have nothing to say about this private initiative we are told by the City of Cholet.

Several movements classified on the left (Solidaires, Attac, New Popular Front, etc.) are demanding the cancellation of these events. Dr. Fouché is dipping his toes into the sphere of well-being and personal development to make appeals to conspiracy theorists and the far right. We refuse these sectarian excesses whispers an Attac activist. For the same reasons, they are demanding the cancellation of his appearance at the Soul Medicine Forum on November 23 and 24 at Terra Botanica in .
