Orange is strengthening its network for the Olympic Games. The operator will deploy 5G SA for broadcasters and will also offer special prepaid offers for tourists.

In addition to opening 5G to all its customers until September 8, Orange announced other changes and offers for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Offers for visitors, a free package for athletes

For non-European visitors who cannot benefit from roaming in Europe with their plan, Orange will offer a complete range of Orange Holiday prepaid plans ranging from 4.99 euros to 49.99 euros depending on the amount of data desired but also calls towards abroad.

The range starts with a data-only plan with 1 GB of internet and ends with a complete offer with 100 GB of data and calls/SMS to the rest of the world. Everything is compatible with 5G, provided you have a compatible phone.

Orange Holiday offers – Orange

These offers for foreigners can also be taken by French people or European visitors who do not have a large data plan in their country of origin.

And to best meet demand, Orange will sell its offers in more points of sale. Beyond stores, these Orange Holiday SIM and eSIM cards will be available in more than 70 new points of sale: tobacco shops, Parisian kiosks, Publicis drugstore, etc.

The 15,000 athletes who will participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be given an Orange Holiday Europe Max SIM with 100 GB of data in France and Europe as well as unlimited calls in France and from the Europe zone and which also allows call until 2 a.m. to the rest of the world.

5G and the Team for all

These offers will allow you to use Orange’s 5G network during the Games. The operator has decided to open its network for everyone since June 3 and until July 8. To take advantage of it, all you need to do is have a 5G phone. If this is your case and you don’t have access to it, you will have to wait a bit until registration opens.

Note that all Orange customers will also be able to benefit from a L’Equipe digital subscription free of charge for 2 months, the price will then increase to 9.99 euros per month. To do this, you will need to subscribe to the option and remember to unsubscribe before the end of the two months if you do not want to pay.

5G SA but private

Orange also announced the arrival of 5G Stand Alone but only in a private setting. It will be deployed at several major Olympic sites such as the Stade de France, the Bercy Arena, Paris La Défense Aréna and also along the Seine for the opening ceremony.

But don’t wait to be able to connect to it, it will be limited to broadcasters on these sites which have big needs in terms of 5G with high and stable speeds, particularly in the upstream direction, ultra-low latency and great security in order to to broadcast high definition images without a hitch.
