IMF-Morocco: New financing for climate resilience

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the disbursement to Morocco of the 2nd tranche under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, for an amount of 415 million dollars (More than 4 billion DH).

“The authorities continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to Morocco’s transition to a greener economy,” indicates the IMF. This new financing brings the total disbursement under this program to approximately 747 million dollars, specifies the Fund, which approved, last September, financing of 1.3 billion dollars in favor of Morocco under the Facility for resilience and sustainability.

According to the IMF, this financing over 18 months “will support Morocco’s transition to a greener economy and contribute to strengthening its preparedness and resilience in the face of natural disasters, particularly those linked to climate change”. The envelope will support the Kingdom in the fight against climate vulnerabilities and will strengthen its resilience to climate change, in addition to serving in the field of decarbonization.
