According to information reported by the site Actu.fra 22-year-old young man was sentenced to expulsion from the territory after his involvement in a fatal accident that occurred in June 2021 in Les Sables-d'Olonne, in Vendée.
A young woman riding an electric scooter was hit by a car whose occupants had fled, leaving the victim without assistance.
Justice confirms expulsion decision
Arriving in France in 2019 at the age of 16, the young man from Ivory Coast was taken care of by Child Welfare in Vendée. He had completed vocational training and worked in the construction sector. In 2022, he was sentenced to six months in prison for failure to assist a person in danger, due to his role in the fatal accident.
The prefect of Vendée judged that his behavior represented a threat to public order and refused to renew his residence permit, meaning he was obliged to leave French territory. The Nantes administrative court of appeal confirmed this decision in October 2024, finding that he had no family ties in France and could return to Ivory Coast where his family resides.
