A dramatic turn of events this Tuesday morning at the Agen court where the mother of the missing from Nérac did not appear at the hearing. Since Monday, Naïma Bel Allam has been appearing before the Lot-et-Garonne criminal court for the alleged murder of Inès and Nawal, her two poly-handicapped granddaughters.

Placed under judicial supervision since 2021 after spending four years in pre-trial detention, the accused arrived yesterday at the Agen Libre courthouse, accompanied by her counsel Mes Grolleau and Lamarque. The debates focused around his personality. Her lawyers said she gave herself up like never before since the proceedings began seven years ago.

A wake-up call

The surprise was therefore total this Tuesday morning. The police even went to his home. Naïma Bel Allam did not actually wake up. The defendant’s phone was disconnected and she did not respond to her lawyers who attempted to contact her on numerous occasions.

Around 9:30 a.m., she finally gave news to her advisors: she had a problem with her alarm clock and didn’t wake up. She arrived around 9:40 a.m. at the Agen courthouse, escorted by the police.

The trial was able to resume with her a little before 10 a.m. I was very tired after yesterday’s hearing. “I couldn’t sleep and I took a pill. I didn’t wake up,” the accused apologized at the hearing.

Deposition warrant required during hearing

The public prosecutor requested a committal warrant during the hearing against Naima Bel Allam, “so that the trial can take place within the allotted time frame”. After deliberating, the court decided not to issue this arrest warrant against the accused. The latter will therefore not sleep in prison until the end of the trial, Thursday June 20.

“No more delays will be tolerated,” said the president. “I have always respected my judicial review,” said the mother. “I am a very punctual person. It was an accident. It will not happen again.”
