40 fewer teaching positions planned in Hauts-de-Seine: “We expect a catastrophic start to the school year”

From Colombes to Fontenay-aux-Roses, mobilizations against the threats of class closures at the start of the next school year continue. Teachers are on strike throughout the department, at the call of the entire first degree inter-union, this Tuesday, the day when the working group to adjust the school map is held at the academic management of Nanterre.

The department’s allocation for the start of the 2024 school year is at least 40 positions, according to the inter-union press release. Position cuts recorded even though at the end of the year, 52 full-time “class positions” and 34 “replacement positions” are vacant.

“The academic management justifies the job cuts by the demographic drop estimated at minus 1,936 students. Let us remember, however, that last year, the forecasts were very wrong: 1,190 more students than expected were educated in Hauts-de-Seine and no revision of the number of positions! », Write the unions.

“The teacher recruitment competition is far from being full. We expect a catastrophic return to school, again. Even if every year, Dasen (academic director of national education services) says that the start of the school year went well, this is not true. We had plenty of classes with vacant positions and it will be the same next September,” assures Fabienne Rouvrais, departmental co-secretary of the Snuipp-FSU 92 union, during the gathering organized an hour before the working group meeting, this Tuesday after- noon. A rally, attended by Aurélien Saintoul, outgoing deputy (Nupes) for the 11th constituency, and also organized to denounce the shock of knowledge measures.

Change compared to the first forecasts for January

In the updated Dasen school map project, 42 additional class openings compared to that of January would be planned, six planned openings being however canceled. In terms of closures, 38 new classes would be threatened and 23 others planned to be canceled.

This is particularly the case of a class from the La Roue school group, in Fontenay-aux-Roses, mobilized since Monday, after having been mobilized in January. She obtained the retention of a class even though Mayor Laurent Vastel had questioned the sub-prefect for equal opportunities on the subject. The school welcomes some of the schoolchildren from the Blagis district, which has just joined the city’s policy system.

The inter-union is already planning a mobilization from the first day of the start of the school year in September. “We still have more than 200 class closures planned, that’s too many! In ordinary settings, we have classes of 27 students and in REP, averages of more than 24. Where are the days when we said no more than 24 students? » protests Julie Faurel, departmental secretary of the unified union of directors and teachers, Snudi-FO.
