The Departmental Union FO of Haute-Loire held its annual meeting of its unions on Friday, November 8 at the Socio-cultural Center of Guitard in Puy-en-Velay, under the presidency of Frédéric Souillot, general secretary of the Confédération Générale du Travail Force Worker.
It was in a packed Balavoine room and in front of 200 very angry FO activists that Vincent Delauge, the secretary general of the Departmental Union, presented the elements of the social situation and listed “the unbearable attacks of the Macron/Barnier government against the jobs, social security, public services and civil servants.
The fifteen delegates' interventions which punctuated the meeting were unanimous in denouncing “the policies of a minority and illegitimate government of incredible violence against the rights and achievements of workers”.
The discussion largely focused on preparing “effective action to block austerity policies and to achieve urgent demands.”
Activists felt it was essential to strike together at the same time. They thus asked the question of joining the railway workers who decided to strike on November 21 and its continuation from December 11.
Frédéric Souillot, secretary general of the Confédération Force Ouvrière, concluded the meeting. Its decision to propose to other national organizations to take up the FO Federation of Civil Servants' proposal for three consecutive days of strikes in December in response to the 3-day waiting period was met with a standing ovation.
