The firefighters of Bretenoux Fire and Rescue Center intervened on Sunday November 3, 2024 shortly after 3 a.m. to provide assistance to a young pregnant woman at her home, in the town of Biars-sur-Cèrein the north of Lot. On the journey to the maternitythe young woman gave birth to a little boy weighing 3.7 kg. Both mother and baby are doing well.

Taking contractions, the crew of the VSAV (Rescue and Victim Assistance Vehicle)supported by a Firefighter nurse and by theSaint-Céré SMUR teamtook charge of the mother-to-be in order to transport her to the maternity ward in Brive-la-Gaillarde.

During transport, the VSAV had to stop its progress at the side of the road in the town of Meyssac (19) in order to carry out the unexpected birth of the young woman.

With the help of the staff involved, the mother gave birth to a small male baby weighing 3.7 kg.

The emergency vehicle then returned to its final destination, the maternity ward, baby and mother doing very well.

Note that theintervention took place under telephone assistance from the Firefighter, expert midwife on call.

Despite specific training, this type of intervention always remains a bit anxiety-inducing for those involved. Bravo for the composure and professionalism of the team!
