M6 has just confirmed that its new daily series will be filmed entirely in Hérault, outdoors and at the France Télévision premises in Vendargues.
Consequently, the two France Télévisions studios in Vendargues will double their current surface area of 4,000 m2 by the end of 2025 and the Pics Studios in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc – a 200 million euro project – will offer eight sets , a training center and a studio dedicated to waterfalls, between the north of Montpellier, Pérols and Fabrègues at the end of 2025.
The key: the consolidation of 300 to 500 intermittent entertainment positions, and a big boost given to film tourism in Occitania, which consists of choosing one's vacation destinations based on the filming locations of one's films or his favorite series.
3,000 days of filming per year
It must be said that Montpellier already hosts three successful series: “Tomorrow belongs to us” (TF1), “Un si grand soleil (France 2) and “Here it all begins” (TF1). And since 2016, the Region has been leading an ambitious policy in the field of cultural and creative industries. In particular, last June it adopted the regional strategy “Occitanie, ça tourne”.
Thus the production of several documentaries, TV dramas and feature films shot in the department was supported.
The objective is to make Occitanie the leading European audiovisual region and the leading destination in France for international productions by 2028. With 3,000 days of filming (films and series) per year on average, Occitanie is for per hour in second place among the regions hosting the greatest number of filming days, behind Île-de-France.
