It was shortly after 12:30 a.m. on the night of Sunday 10 to Monday 11 November 2024 when an accident traffic, involving a car on board which were eight peopleoccurred on departmental road 3, towards Rieumes, in the small town of Riolas (Haute-Garonne), a town of around fifty inhabitants located not far from L'Isle-en-Dodon. An accident whose circumstances are very troubled in the eyes of the police.
Eight victims, all slightly injured
When help arrived, the firefighters were in the presence of eight victims, confirms the SDIS of Haute-Garonne. According to our information, this was three adults et five minors.
They were all evacuated urgence relative. After receiving first aid, three children aged from 9 to 15 years old were transported to the Children's Hospital in Purpan for follow-up examinations. The other victims were taken to the hospitals of Saint-Gaudens and Toulouse, also for minor injuries.
Travelers who are not very talkative
What were they all doing in that car, one minivan which, obviously, could not accommodate so many passengers ? The gendarmes intervened on the spot, but their investigations were not simple. Members of the same family, these eight people show themselves little eloquent with law enforcement. From the community of traveling peoplethey live in this sector of Comminges.
Involved in a nearby fight
According to testimonies collected by the gendarmes of the Saint-Gaudens gendarmerie company, they climbed into this vehicle shortly after having been involved in a fight, occurred in a nearby village hall.
Leaving quickly, the minivan was found in a ditch a few minutes later. Seven people were milling around, all slightly injured, and an eighth was trying to get away before being caught by the police.
They refuse to say who was driving
Does the driver of the vehicle have anything to blame? All the protagonists refusing to say who was behind the wheelimpossible for the gendarmes to deepen the investigation for the moment, or even to carry out alcohol and drug screenings. One thing is certain, however: the vehicle in question was lacking insurance, and of technical inspection.
19 firefighters also on site
In addition to the gendarmerie crews present on site, this intervention also mobilized significant resources of the Haute-Garonne SDIS: in total, 19 firefighters intervened aboard seven vehicles from the centers of L'Isle-en-Dodon, Le Fousseret, Aurignac, Rieumes and Cazères.
