On December 12, the Carole police were alerted to a shooting scene on Boulevard Jacques Bertrand in the upper town by witnesses who heard gunshots. The premises are equipped with surveillance cameras. The exploitation of the images reveals this sequence of events: a man flees while being pursued by a few individuals. Some are armed with machetes and one of them points a pistol at the victim. The latter is ultimately the target of shots, fortunately not serious.

The shooter identified on Facebook and on a photo panel

When questioned, the man targeted by the attempted murder provided interesting details to the police. “The shooter is approximately 25 years old, of average height and has squinted eyes. He even shows a photo of the shooter on Facebook. According to the victim, the suspect would sell narcotics and would not accept other people loitering in the street without supplies.”, reveals the floor.

A photo panel is presented to the victim, who formally recognizes Mohamed as the shooter. The day after the events, the young man, almost 22 years old, was arrested. From the outset, the suspicions weighing on him are confirmed since he is wearing a long jacket identical to that of the shooter. Even more intriguing, Mohamed’s mobile phone reveals a photo of him posing with a gun and a second photo shows him wearing the same sweatshirt as the suspect.

He dumps his cousin

The noose tightens on Mohamed. But as in the hearing, the young inmate does not give up and swears not to be the shooter. The latter goes even further when he reveals that he knows the identity of the suspect: his own cousin. “I already had problems with the victim last spring. But I’m not the shooter”, explains Mohamed. Substitute Pied simply considers that these comments only serve to “lead everyone”.

Eight years in prison are required for the attempted murder. For the defense, it is logically an acquittal which is pleaded based on the statements provided by Mohamed.

Judgment next week.
