November 25 pays tribute to three women, three sisters: Minerva, Patria and Maria Teresa Mirabal executed on November 25, 1960, after fighting against the Dominican dictator Trujillo. In their native country, these young activists are martyrs.
November 25 was chosen in 1999 by the United Nations as a day of mobilization against all forms of violence against women.
One of the most important international treaties, the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention), calls for specific measures to be taken to fight against this violence.
Each year, around November 25, awareness and information actions are implemented across the national territory. This period is also an opportunity for public authorities to take stock of the policies carried out nationally and locally in favor of the prevention and fight against violence against women.
In Deux-Sèvres, numerous actions are proposed as part of the departmental network for the prevention and fight against domestic violence “STOP Violences 79”, coordinated and managed by the State (departmental delegate for women's rights and equality ) in collaboration with the department.
