In Aveyron, France Télévisions teams went to meet a man who is struggling to save a train line. He is Irish, he completely fell for this line which connects Béziers to Clermont-Ferrand, one of the most beautiful in Europe.

It’s the story of an Irishman who fell under the spell of Aveyron. Fearghal McLaughlin is an English teacher in (Aveyron), that morning, he met his students on the station platform. He fell in love with a little train and he wants to show it off: “I try to defend this beautiful line which is sadly abandoned. We speak English on the train”he explains. On board the line that connects Béziers to Clermont-Ferrand, as soon as you leave, the landscape sets the tone. A train that acts as an oddity with its peaks at 60 km/h. Obsolete, the line on which he travels was almost closed.

After 40 minutes of travel, the group descends to Campagnac in Aveyron. The English course continues in an inn run by the same family for five generations. For a few euros a day, it is possible to speak a little English and, above all, to meet great people. Every month, Fearghal looks for a new destination on the line to surprise his students.
