Villeneuve-sur-Lot: spotlight on summer events

Kicks off this Friday with the music festival

This Friday, June 21, we will not only celebrate the transition from spring to summer, but also the Music Festival, which will resonate as the real launch of the Villeneuvois summer season. An event that will take place as much on the square in front of Sainte-Catherine church as on rue de Paris and on Place Lafayette. It is of course on the latter that the big show will begin and reign, with, at 7 p.m.: the conservatory show: The new big little band. Created at the start of the 2022 school year, this brand new Big Band offers practice around swing and jazz rock within the Béla Bartok conservatory.

Then at 8:30 p.m., it will be the turn of the Boom years in “full hits”. The troupe is supported by talented professional singers, dancers and actors. With shows renewed every two years, hundreds of costumes and a giant screen, Les Années Boum continue to seduce and surprise the stages of France, becoming a true reference for successful shows.

If musical entertainment will awaken the Sainte-Catherine square from 8:30 p.m., the rue de Paris will see at 8 p.m. the concert of the Brigadiers, who have been setting fire to local festivals and festivals in Lot-et-Garonne since 2004. Strolls in the streets of the city center are also planned.

Children’s Olympics

In this Olympic year, the City is also offering children the opportunity to try new sporting disciplines. And for this, it relies on the summer event which last year was called “the wonderful world of children”. Thus, in line with this, “Olympics will be organized and children will be able to discover several activities: trampoline, rugby, ping-pong, taekwondo, fishing, inflatable games, zip line (a first). » The meeting is scheduled for June 29 from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Parc des Haras. This sporting afternoon will offer different activities and free workshops such as makeup, glitter tattoos, a “toddler” corner reserved for children aged 1 to 4 with suitable activities: bouncy castles, modular activity park and swimming pool. with bullets. A cotton candy stand will be present as well as Marmier.

Musi’Cales, firefighters’ ball, national holiday…

There is no need to present the concept of Musi’Cales, these free concerts which liven up the Villeneuvois summer every year. A month ago, the municipality revealed the headliners for the 2024 edition: “(Gilbert Montagné, Black M, Saults at Parc Saint-Cyr) but also tribute concerts at the Cale de la marine (see our edition of June 15, 2024).

Ahead of the National Day, July 13, the Republic car park will be animated by the firefighters’ ball from 7:30 p.m. A nice appetizer before attending the next day the festivities which will start at around 7 p.m. with a tavern evening, then the famous pyrosymphonic show at 10:30 p.m. A July 14th which will conclude with concerts in the heart of the city.

Producers’ and artisans’ markets

Scheduled from July 11 to August 30, the country producers’ markets will highlight the gastronomy of the South-West, thanks to the presence of local producers guaranteeing quality and seasonal products, all in direct contact. with the craftsman or farmer. And last year’s little novelty found its audience, so the City reiterates: this special and unmissable moment of the Villeneuve summer will take its mark in three different places. Indeed, for its first trip on July 11, it is the Saint-Cyr park which will welcome the producers, then the boulevard de la Marine on July 14 and finally, the Market will resume its usual position the following week until August 30 , on the Place de l’Amiral-Courbet.

Artisan markets will also be there this summer on the Sainte-Catherine square. Thursdays July 25 and August 18, from 6 to 10 p.m. To make this event grow, a musical entertainment has been designed which will adorn the event, in addition to other activities and demonstrations.

An ever more grandiose August 15

The “fairies of August 15”, among others, are unmissable in the Bastide. “In the department, at this date, there is not much being done with great fanfare elsewhere than in Villeneuve”, testifies Béatrice Vaquier, assistant for commercial and tourist attractiveness of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. August 15 is a very popular date for Villeneuvois as well as summer visitors. The concept evolves with a variety of locations, Place Lafayette and Parc Saint-Cyr, for the two highlights. It will begin with a concert at 7 p.m. at Place Lafayette, then a major circus arts show at 9:45 p.m. with “Les Folies” at Parc Saint-Cyr. The show will be an original acrobatic ballet, full of frenzy, joy and exuberance. It was created to introduce you to these madnesses. August 15 will end with Echoo’s pop-rock concert, still at the Parc.
