A violent frontal collision occurred between two vehicles on the Iracoubo road, at PK 175, towards Organabo.
A 60-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman died in the collision.
Three other people were injured. Two of them were transported to CHOG, the Western Guiana Hospital Center. The third person was transported to Kourou.
In total, sixteen firefighters from Mana and Iracoubo were mobilized to help the victims. The SMUR and the gendarmes were also on site.
Already last week, an accident occurred on this same Iracoubo road between a car and a heavy goods vehicle. Two people were injured, one in an absolute emergency.
According to figures from the prefecture of Guyana, as of October 31, 24 people had lost their lives on the department's roads.
Last year, 34 people were killed in road accidents in Guyana. Despite an increase in the number of injury accidents this year, the number of people killed is down compared to 2023, indicates the prefecture.
