Never seen before in the City of Cajarcthree inaugurations marked local life on Friday June 14: first of all, theRowing Club Cajarcoisthen in the chronology of events, Arts & Stagethe Artistic Education Center of the country of Cajarc, finally to close the end of the afternoon, theFrançoise Sagan space (former village hall).

Many personalities in Cajarc

This procession of inaugurations took place in an atmosphere that was both memorable and warm. In the absence of prefectural authority, retained by a right of reserve during electoral periods, we noted the presence of Vincent Labarthe, vice-president of the Region and president of Grand Figeacof Jacques Viratelle, mayor of Cajarcaccompanied by several municipal elected officials, Frédéric Decremps, departmental advisor, a certain number of mayors from neighboring towns, and community figures enthusiastic about the official recognition of their honored activities. We were treated to numerous laudatory speeches, often marked by legitimate emotion at the work accomplished, historical evocations of the buildings concerned, the details of which we will not rehash, already formulated in our columns published on Actu Lot…

Inauguration of the Rowing Club Cajarcois

However, we must not forget the essential mentioned during the different stages of the day: the attributes of the Aviron Club Cajarcois presented by its president Bruno Laubard. “Four areas guide our objectives: sports leisure and well-being activities, hosting competitive games with a new coach, water quality analysis in coordination with Sydef, (which is worth thanks addressed to the engineer David Lebraud) then rowing is beneficial for all people suffering from various pathologies. » President Laubard wanted to thank the current mayor of Cajarc and the municipal employees for their unwavering support for the smooth running of the rowing club.

Which in turn delighted Jacques Viratelle to see the completion of this structure dedicated to rowing built in the space of two years (2019-2021) the work of €288,000 including tax was financed by the DERT, the Region, the municipality and a European fund still awaiting payment. Most of the speeches praised this club founded in December 2008 in the presence of Jacques Borzo. President Labarthe positioned his intervention on “the Greenway” which will pass near the Rowing Club, emphasizing the tourist impact of such an initiative, both encouraged and supported by the Department.

Inauguration of Arts & Scène

Second meeting place: Arts & Scène. Its director Eddy Choiral and its president Jacques Borzo, former mayor of Cajarc, received the authorities who cut a tricolor inauguration ribbon. In front of a studious audience, Jacques Borzo recalled all the innovations accomplished in previous years: in addition, dance and theater “two surplus disciplines which have no negative financial impact on the music section, the only one subsidized”. He mentioned the partnership with the Georges Pompidou college in Cajarc entitled “The orchestra at school”. An initiative that we have already mentioned in the press. In conclusion, the speaker called on the presidents of Grand Figeac and the Department by asking them “to help all music schools to continue their respective paths more peacefully by indexing subsidies to the evolution of their costs”.

President Labarthe welcomed this school which benefited from all the appropriate equipment, reassured his audience about the monitoring of Arts & Stage programming, specifying in passing that he was not subject to abandoning culture in the ditches of abandonment, quoting Albert Camus to support his argument: “everything that degrades culture shortens the paths that lead to servitude”. It is certain that the speaker did not hide his perplexity in the face of the political crisis that France is going through and the dangers of the international context.

Inauguration of the Espace Françoise Sagan

It was 6 p.m. when the Espace Françoise Sagan was inaugurated in the presence of Denis Westoff, son of the novelist, who cut the tricolor ribbon, before speaking in front of a hundred people. It was not enough to strike the ear of distant nostalgia and to occupy the eyes with large posters dedicated to the author of “Hello Sadness”. Denis Westoff knew how to act on our souls by evoking his mother, and touch the hearts of Cajarcois by speaking to the spirit.

The first magistrate of the City, Jacques Viratelle praised Françoise Quoirez, alias Françoise Sagan, thanked Denis Westoff for having accepted the town hall’s proposal to name the old village hall renovated after many adventures “Espace Françoise Sagan” . A postage stamp will be dedicated to the novelist at the end of September 2024, during the comic book fair, for the first day of issue.

The evening continued with a play entitled “Françoise par Sagan”, a delightful monologue, wonderfully performed by Caroline Loeb, using extracts from interviews conducted by the illustrious writer native of Cajarc. Many times one would have believed to identify Françoise in Caroline’s place, so pronounced was the play of repartee, in a playful manner, impeccable in authenticity, where the exterior perfection of the words was spontaneous tenderness, and the interior perfection was kindness. .
