The AGM of the Aveyron-Lozère departmental committee was held on Friday in Onet, in the premises of the Football District. President Christel Espinasse, who took the position in the middle of the mandate after Roselyne Portal left for personal reasons, was unsurprisingly re-elected for this 2024-2028 Olympiad. She is the head of an office with eleven members.

It is with a certain pride that I can tell you that the past season was a successshe began. We saw the number of licensees increase once again, reaching a record figure of 3,517 licensees, including 2,697 in competitions, spread across our 25 clubs. This is a strong signal, which shows that basketball is a dynamic and attractive sport in our two departments.

Beyond the figures, it is worth noting the dynamism of the clubs which have invested in new practices such as micro-basketball for 3-5 year olds, health basketball, inclusive basketball or even 3×3 basketball, which is experiencing a growing growth. “It is a sign of adaptation and openness, which shows that Aveyron and Lozère basketball is in line with the aspirations of our society.“, assured the president.

Talents

In terms of detection and emerging talents, there was also plenty of good news this year. With the entry into the Toulouse hope center of Nolan Rubio, the entry into the Montpellier hope center of Warrys Kotto Doumbey-Agrech, the integration into the INSEP of Paula Solier, leaving the Toulouse hope center or the entry into the center of Basket Landes training for Mila Fourestie, leaving the Montpellier hope center.

Without forgetting the spearhead of the discipline in Aveyron, the ever-impressive career of the Ruthenian Leïla Lacan, let us remember her retained in the extended selection of Jean-Aimé Toupane’s French team to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games, after being drafted last April, she will join Basket Landes next season.

In terms of downsides, we will still note the loss of a senior team at the national level, in this case that of Elan Aveyron basketball, an agreement between seven clubs in the department including that of Rodez which wanted to leave this spring. There is therefore only one club left, Rodez, with its men’s team at the national level, the lowest nonetheless, the Nationale 3.

The Ruthenian training receives another award

The two Rodez Aveyron fencing swordsmen Tom Bonnafé and Arthur Vernhes took over this weekend in Mâcon the title of French M15 N2 team champion within the Occitanie selection, knowing that the two other members selected in the team came from the clubs Toulouse UC and SE Nîmes.

After dominating Bourgogne-Franche-Comté 45-18, then Martinique 36-21, the Occitan team lost 30-36 against Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The door of the four best teams in France having closed, the selection of Occitanie then escaped from the clutches of Brittany 36/33 then of the Grand Est 36-33 to win the title of champion of France N2. Yet another national title this season for ERA in the youth categories, which more with the club’s fencing master, Samuel Jau.
