Last Saturday, the traditional General Assembly of the association which manages the Écomusée de l'Armagnac took place, at Chateau Garreau. It is an estate considered to be one of the most beautiful jewels of Armagnac, located in the heart of the golden triangle of Bas Armagnac. It is there that, since the 17th century and for 4 generations of the Garreau familysinks “La Blanche”.

This annual meeting is always an opportunity for a festive and friendly moment.

The President, Carole Garreaurecalled the actions undertaken or continued over the past year: Partnerships with the various Tourist Offices, the Relais Châteaux, the Termes de Barbotan, the success of the night market, and the purchase of works of art from Beatrice Bordes. A report accepted unanimously.

The year 2025 will see the continuation of these partnerships, the night market, and a restaurant trial short-lived during the “Thursdays at the Castle“, the end of the repair of the walls, floor and installation of the winegrower's museum which will open in June 2025.

The 2023 financial report was unanimously accepted with a positive result of €7,000.

Then, the renewal and election of the Board of Directors took place.

The AGM continued with the traditional lunch at the foot of the still from which this Gascony eau-de-vie, appreciated all over the world, flowed imperturbably. The meal was followed by a visit to the underground cellar, unique in Armagnac. Built in the 19th century by the Prince Aleksandre Soukhovo Kobylinenew owner, who specializes in the production of Armagnac. It is here, too, that the Floc de Gasconyfrom an old recipe, was officially created in 1974 by Charles Garreau.

It is therefore quite natural that Carole Garreau, of the 4th generation, can say ” It's a know-how passed down from generation to generation which allows us to keep the flame alive, between modernity and tradition” and to continue, with his broad smile, “I didn't intend to take over the domain but I think it was written somewhere deep inside me“.

A chance for all Armagnac lovers since, with her husband, Michel Caillaud, the Domaine continues its ascent towards the heights of quality where innovation, the conservation of ancestral traditions combine, without forgetting training promoting reasonable agriculture and durable. This is why the domain is labeled “High Environmental Value“.
