This Sunday, November 10, Bergerac was unable to kill the match and Vergt, clumsy for a long time, finished with a bang. In the end, with the 16-16 draw, everyone is almost happy.
The neighbors parted good friends this Sunday during a derby that started off promisingly. Because from the 2nd minute, Fauverte opened the scoring with a penalty, thanks to a faulty Vernoise scrum. Lozeille did not imitate him, like Teychenné who unscrewed his kick to find the penalty. Noël started off level but forgot El Mouini for the try which would have really started the match.
Because the first period was marked by missed penalties on both sides. In addition, USB lost former Vernois Nathan Thizon to a blue card a quarter of an hour into the match and scored a counterattack. The score thus remained narrow despite Vergt's desire to keep the balls away, facing a well-established Bergerac defense.
The UAV chose hits rather than points, without success. And, not benefiting from the penalty advantage, the Vernois regretted not being able to give rhythm to the match, only to find themselves trailing 3-6 at half-time. When they returned from the locker room, they held the ball for almost three minutes, without being able to really cross.
A decisive surplus
And on a long release, Vidalie was too alone in the recovery. There followed several penalties and a big highlight from Bergerac, who confirmed his domination with a penalty try (3-13, 46th).
Vergt tried to react but the last passes were lacking. Dessoudeix led the charge and beat three opponents to win a penalty. But the USB was still scraping the leather and returned to the camp of locals who could not find a solution.
It took a superb restart with a back in between to see Vergt really prove dangerous. The action again narrowly aborted and, in the process, when we thought it was a try, a forward put a stop to everything.
But the USB found itself at fourteen and, on a penalty, the Vern pack pushed its opposite side to restart the game with the transformation of Lozeille (10-13, 63rd). Reinvigorated, the UAV insisted with its big players and inherited a penalty at the start of the action, while the advantage ended with a try from Soto. Lozeille scored to equalize (13-13, 70th), via a 10-0 thanks to the surplus.
Even winning the Bergerac scrum, the UAV invaded the opposing 22 meters. USB let the storm pass and benefited from a penalty during a rare incursion, to regain the score (13-16, 77th). Not for long because Gendre was charging for the premises. The wide opening ended with a final penalty which Lozeille passed against the posts, for a final score of parity.
