a solemn tribute to those involved

Simon Bertoux, prefect of Ariège, chaired alongside the civil and military authorities, the ceremony of thanks to the flag bearer, during which the flag bearer's badge was presented, a symbol of their permanent commitment.

The prefect of Ariège, Simon Bertoux, recently chaired an official ceremony in tribute to the standard bearers of the department. Alongside representatives of the civil and military authorities, he wished to salute the commitment of these men and women who, through their presence during commemorations and patriotic events, embody the memory and values of the Republic. The ceremony was notably marked by the presentation of the flag bearer's badge, a strong symbol recognizing the involvement and dedication of those who ensure respect for memorial traditions.

This solemn day began with a training session provided to flag bearers by the departmental service of the National Office for Veterans and War Victims (ONaCVG) of Ariège, in partnership with various local associations. The objective of this training was to transmit the codes and responsibilities specific to this function, as well as to strengthen the spirit of cohesion among the participants.

For this occasion, around thirty young people from the Defense Classes of the Lavelanet and Pamiers high schools as well as volunteers from the Universal National Service (SNU) also responded. Their participation demonstrates a growing interest among younger generations in the duty of memory and the symbolism of the standard bearer. Engaged in this enriching experience, the students were able to become aware of the importance of this mission and the central role that collective memory plays in the construction of a society united around common values.
