The latest news from the United States is not prancing around like a dancer on the Kif Pass, so we might as well fall back on what the country does best (apart from automatic rifles): comfort food. And Thanksgiving, the meal evoking the ephemeral gratitude of the settlers to the natives for their first harvest, stands out as the privileged moment when North American cuisine flexes its muscles and its bountiful festive recipes guaranteed without burgers or fried chicken.
Hotel des Grands Voyageurs
From the moment it opened, the restaurant at the hotel on rue de Vaugirard, which looked like an art deco liner, displayed a resolutely transatlantic menu. Celebrating Thanksgiving therefore seems obvious. Chef Benoît Ayissi sticks to mastered classics, offered in a formula adapted to European appetites: pumpkin velouté and truffle condiment; pressed poultry with chestnuts, creamy parsnips, grilled corn and cranberry sauce; and pecan pie.
Or ? 92 rue de Vaugirard, Paris 6th.
When ? from November 25 to 30.
How much ? 49 €.
Delano Cafe
Unsurprisingly, the Maison Delano hotel restaurant, which shares its name with the 32nd President of the United States, is offering a celebratory dinner for November 28. And, it is not often with the USA, it will be under the aegis of Marx! In this case not Karl, but chef Thierry Marx, who signs the menu, as autumnal as it is reassuring: butternut ravioli, crab and dashi parfait; ballotine of turkey, grapes and braised cabbage; sweet potato pudding and caramel sauce.
Or ? 4 rue d’Anjou, Paris 8th.
When ? November 28 at 7 p.m.
How much ? 75 €.
Breakfast in America
The diner from the Latin Quarter, more American than a pick-up truck with a Stetson, abandons its pancakes and other burgers for a Thanksgiving menu that ticks all the boxes of tradition bingo, like a retiree in Florida: pumpkin soup; a must-have stuffed turkey accompanied by mashed potatoes, maple-roasted sweet potatoes and green beans; pecan pie… Note that the first service starts at 6 p.m. like there!
Or ? 17 rue des Écoles, Paris 5th.
When ? on November 28 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
How much ? 54 €.
Chocho
The Franco-American Thomas Chisholm never misses an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving in his restaurant Chocho (and remember a little about his New York childhood). On the 28th, he unveils a plethoric 7-part menu which draws (almost) all the classics from the comfort food US: truffle mac & cheese; crab and corn pie; squash gnocchi glazed with maple syrup; coleslaw with ranch sauce; the inevitable turkey with cranberries, mash and brown gravy; Lemon donut and cheesecake. Enjoy!
Or ? 54 Rue de Paradis, 75010 Paris
When ? November 28 at dinner
How much ? 95€
