Morocco-WEF Partnership: Younes Sekkouri and Saadia Zahidi join forces for employment

Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills (MIEPEEC), led a working meeting with the Director General of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Saadia Zahidi, to discuss issues of common interest in particular the analysis of global trends in employment and professions for which the WEF is recognized.

The meeting also focused on synergies with Morocco as part of the expertise currently being deployed by the Morocco Jobs Accelerator. This project, resulting from a unique partnership in the world between the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Economic Forum, addresses questions at the heart of our country’s concerns, such as the work of NEET and questions of entrepreneurship.

It should be remembered that an agreement was signed on May 31, 2024 between the various stakeholders in Marrakech to set up this pioneering project on a global scale.

On May 3, 2023, Sekkouri signed a memorandum of understanding with the DG of the WEF in Geneva, to develop high-impact projects in partnership with national actors and skills.

Sekkouri’s meeting with WEF leaders in Geneva takes place on the sidelines of the international labor conference organized by the International Labor Organization as well as the meeting of world leaders on the issues of development models organized by UNCTAD, both UN events where the Minister represented the Kingdom of Morocco in the presence of the SG of the United Nations, heads of state and governments.

This ambitious initiative serves as a laboratory and benchmarking framework for international experiences. It aims to address structural issues in the job market, particularly targeting young NEETs (neither in employment, nor in education, nor in training).
