The SNCF was acquitted by the Paris Court of Appeal on Friday November 8 in the case of the crushed cat at Montparnasse station, reports France Bleu Gironde on Saturday. On January 2, 2023, the cat Neko, who was traveling with a mother and her daughter from Bordeaux, escaped from his cage to take refuge under a TGV, on the platform in the Paris station. The SNCF agents did not agree to postpone the departure of the train under which the feline was.
The SNCF subsidiary, SNCF Voyageurs, was ordered at first instance, in July 2023, to pay a fine of 1,000 euros for “neglect”. She appealed her conviction. The appeal trial took place on September 27. The prosecution had requested the acquittal of the SNCF, considering that no fault had been committed.
