Quebec will pay $2.4 million over four years to the Juripop legal clinic so that it can accompany and support employees who are victims of psychological harassment or sexual violence at work.
The Minister of Labor, Jean Boulet, made the announcement Friday morning accompanied by the general director of Juripop, Ms.e Sophie Gagnon.
The aid will be spread over four years with an annual amount of $600,000 until 2028. These sums will allow the legal clinic “to lend a helping hand” to approximately 300 victims per year, indicated Mr. Boulet at a conference. press in Montreal.
“The services are free. And this will apply to people who will present a complaint of sexual harassment under the Act respecting labor standards or a claim to obtain compensation from the CNESST alleging that it is a work accident,” said explained the minister.
This announcement follows the adoption last March of a bill aimed at preventing and combating psychological harassment and sexual violence in the workplace.
The assistance stems from recommendations from a committee of three professors, formulated in anticipation of the study and adoption of the law.
