But where have the famous Fingers gone? These small, long chocolate-covered cakes disappeared from the shelves, probably before summer, but without an explanation from Mondelez International, the multinational that now owns the recipe.
It was ultimately consumers who noticed the stoppage in supply. Contacted by Liberationthe multinational indicates that the biscuits are no longer available in France since “May 2024”.
Adults, and not younger ones, have the feeling of having always seen them. It must be said that these chocolate sticks have been an obvious choice in the biscuit aisle in France since the 1980s, sold at the time under the Cadbury brand. We remember the advertising that said out loud… what everyone wanted more discreetly.
Today, the typically English brand has been absorbed by an American giant, Mondelez. The latter also owns LU, Oreo, Milka and even Côte d'Or and Granola, representing a large third of sales of sweet biscuits in France, closely followed by Ferrero and its more recent Kinder biscuits on the market.
However, fans fear the worst for Fingers: the industrial confectionery juggernaut has already removed the Figolu biscuit from the shelves for 5 years, between 2015 and 2020.
The sweetness re-emerged under pressure from frustrated consumers, with a modified recipe and a higher price. Despite everything, it is a relief for those nostalgic, who felt betrayed and abandoned. A petition is already circulating for the return of Finger biscuits”never long enough“, as the advertisement said.
