Lantriac: when the river takes the stage

Discovering the biodiversity of the riverside and the issues of water preservation, this was the objective of the educational program offered to high section and CP students of the Lantriac public school.

A scientific but also artistic entry was offered, with classroom support from Madame Grenouille, environmental educator. Several weeks were needed for the students to create sculptures of living beings united by a color: Hoplie, Myosotis, Kingfisher, Rosalie, among other wonders that nature had made blue… or else Lemon, Oriole, Salamander, Wagtail , Ringer, sporting a beautiful yellow.

These realistic sculptures, suspended on mobiles made from gnawed beaver wood, were presented by the students during a public evening at the Vourzet hall in Lantriac.

These shimmeringly colored mobiles will now serve as an educational tool for other EPAGE projects, the organizing structure of this water project, which enabled its financing thanks to joint support from the Water Agency and of the community of communes Mézenc Loire Meygal.

To close this project, a show was offered to the public, families, students or curious residents. Simon Bugnon and Solenne Muller presented their piece entitled “The Eye of the River”, a poetic tale set to images and kora music. At the end of the screening, the children were even able to try out a few notes on the 21 strings of this unusual instrument.
