An outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza has been confirmed in a duck farm located in the town of Saint-Étienne-d'Orthe, in the Landes. The operation to depopulate the 6,400 animals present on the farm began this Thursday, November 7 and will conclude this Friday, November 8. Staff from the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection (DDETSPP) will be alongside the breeder during the animal euthanasia operation.
These animals had been vaccinated against HPAI, in accordance with regulations.
The prefect of Landes has issued a decree defining restricted zones.
8 municipalities are affected by restrictions linked to protection zone (3 kilometers around the home): Orist, Pey, Port-de-Lanne, Saint-Étienne-d'Orthe, Saint-Jean-de-Marsacq, Saint-Lon-les-Mines, Sainte-Marie-de-Gosse and Saint-Martin-de-Hinx.
20 municipalities are affected by the surveillance zone (10 km perimeter): Bélus, Biarrotte, Biaudos, Cagnotte, Cauneille, Hastingues, Heugas, Josse, Oeyregave, Orthevielle, Peyrehorade, Rivière-Saas-et-Gourby, Saint-André-de-Seignanx, Saint-Geours-de -Maremne, Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse, Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse, Saubrigues, Saubusse, Siest and Tercis-les-Bains.
